4th Novena
my "local" novena is an 1 hour and 15 mins flight or (6 hrs drive)..... but i was glad to attend a novena for San Miguel before the Fiesta in Chicago!
Basaynons held the novena for San Miguel, Mass Concelebrated with Padre Tony and Fr. Dennis, celebrated June Birthdays, and Father's Day!

200th Visitor!
Our Basaynon BlogSpot has reached its 200th visitor count!
In just a matter of months, after creating this BlogSpot as an added portal for Basaynons...there is already a great amount of visitors!

Hotel Reservations
There were a lot of questions if Basaynons are still able to avail the discounted group rate at the Marriott hotel for the Basaynon Fiesta.
Some Basaynons families are getting to Chicago before Friday, and staying after Sunday's events...yet there was a concern for the increase of room rates going up before and after the event.
Message from the Hermano:

Obama's appreciation for Filipinos on Fil-Am Independce day
In a statement posted in his official campaign blog Friday (Thursday in the US), the presumptive US Democratic party presidential nominee recognized the "enormous contributions" of generations of Filipino immigrants in building the United States, citing their service in both public and private sectors.
The junior US Senator from Illinois looked back to his childhood in Hawaii, saying that based on his experiences growing up in the state, Filipinos "have had an enormous positive impact on the culture and economy."
"As dedicated military and civil servants, lawyers and bankers, artists, engineers and entrepreneurs, agricultural and industrial laborers, healthcare providers and customer service workers, caretakers for our elderly and youth, Filipino Americans—4 million strong—have enriched our country, embodied our nation's highest ideals, and reflected the very best that the Philippines has to offer," Obama said in the statement.

Improving Basay
After a recent conference in Cebu City, Cebu, it has been established that JICA, Japan International Cooperation Agency has set a deal to work with the Basey Water District to help finance the very much needed improvements for a properly functional water district.
The grant by the Japanese co-op will fund, the SMALL WATER DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT!
As the cleaning up of illegal structures by the seawall has already started, and with the water district reaching a milestone in improvment plans... lets just all hope that the citizens of Basay will also help out and support these steps to reach a BEAUTIFUL and CLEAN Basey !!!!

Filipino Nurses, Outlook Doesn't Seem to Bright!
From a high of 13,822 deployed new hires in 2001, deployment decreased to 8,528 in 2006. Significant drops in deployment of new hires happened in the following receiving countries:
· Saudi Arabia: from 5, 626 in 2004 to 2,886 in 2006;
· United Kingdom: from 800 in 2004 to 139 in 2006;
· US: from 373 in 2004 to 133 in 2006;
· Kuwait: from 408 in 2004 to 191 in 2006;
· Qatar: from 318 in 2004 to 38 in 2006;
