- continued higher education for a current high school student in Basay, Samar
- each year, there will be 1 male, and 1 female that will be awarded the scholarship, and will provide tuition and book allowance to go attend a college/university in Tacloban City
- scholarship is good for a 4 year course/major
- opportunity for those with a cumulative grade point average of a B for all 4 years of high school to a full scholarship.

we hope all BASAYNONS have had a great start on 2008, and to our CHINESE BASAYNONS..... happy year of the OX!
although there are still some pages that need to be set up, the main frame for the new BASAYNON website is up and running. when you visit the website, you'll definitely get the feel for the new website. Great job to Mano Boy Vilches for spending time, even after long hours at his 9-5 job to create the website for all to enjoy!

In Memoriam
Another Basaynon has unfortunately been lost, and has now joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Fellow Basaynon, Mr. Cesar Estorninos past away last Saturday, November 8, 2008, after battling for many days in the ICU, with pancreatic complications. There was a vigil and wake service held this past Friday November 14 and 15, 2008 in the Los Angeles area. Cesar will be laid to rest in his dear hometown of Basey, Samar, Philippines.
Please include the soul of Mr. Cesar Estorninos in your prayers, as well has the entire Estorninos Family who is in mourning of this terrible lost.

The holidays are fast approaching but we definitely didn’t want to miss on another year where Basaynons don’t take the time out to come together and join in the holiday spirit! Times are tough, although they say that “laughter is the best medicine”… and of course whenever Basaynons are together, there is plenty of good laughter and cheer all around!
